What can a job I hate possibly offer me?

The clarity only a wrong life can give you

Why does getting ready for work make me so sad?

You’re preparing to leave yourself behind again

Does that explain my depression?

No. Just the ache of abandoning yourself

Why does my paycheck feel more like a leash?

It pays you just enough to keep needing it

What is this misery trying to tell me?

How much you suffer arguing with what you already know

Why do I hate challenges so much?

You hate how little choice they leave you

Why do I feel guilty for hating a life someone else would be grateful for?

Having something worth appreciating doesn’t make it worth keeping

Why must freedom be earned through something so hateful?

Not everything that serves you has to fulfill you

So when does any of this actually set me free?

When your wishes finally have a plan

Moral

The life you hate may be funding the life you want

You can hate what your job is doing to you and still be grateful for what it’s doing for you. It can take your time away and still teach you something valuable. It can feel like the wrong life and still give you the tools to build the right one.

Sometimes the wrong life is the only thing that can make the right one obvious. Let me repeat that: Sometimes the wrong life is the only thing that can make the right one obvious.

A shift in perspective can change what suffering means. Even the wrong season can give you something the next one will need.

You don’t believe me?

Think about the good parts of your life right now. Many of them once existed as nothing more than an idea for changing a life you knew you couldn’t keep living.

You gave those ideas a chance by acting on them. The frustrations, loss time, and struggles are all material for whatever comes next. There’s no greater stepping stone to your freedom, than a job.

Remember, every paycheck is another invitation to give your plans a chance.
